RNG Defeat DAMWON to Win MSI 2021
Mid-Season Invitational 2021 has concluded with a victory of a Chinese team Royal Never Give Up. In the tournament’s grand finals they defeated a Korean team DAMWON Gaming to claim $75,000 in prize money.
Both RNG and DAMWON finished the Group Stage at the first places in their groups, and later also showed the best results in the Rumble Stage. In the semifinals DAMWON defeated MAD Lions (3-2), while RNG outplayed PSG Talon (3-1). Both finalists showed a high level of play, and the series ended with a 3-2 score.
MSI 2021 was played on May 6th – 23rd in Reykjavík, Iceland. Initially the tournament’s line-up included 12 teams, however GAM Esports from VCS could not attend the event due to travel restrictions. The tournament’s prize pool was set at $250,000.
