Invites for IEM XVI Summer and its Qualifier Revealed
ESL have revealed the list of teams that were invited to their upcoming CS:GO event Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI – Summer, which will played in June. Besides that, the tournament organizer has also announced four teams that were invited to compete in the event’s qualifiers.
The tournament’s line-up will include six partnered teams – five from Europe (Vitality, Complexity, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Fnatic, Astralis), as well as one team from North America (Evil Geniuses). Another four participants secured their invites thanks to their placement in the ESL World Ranking – among them are Gambit Esports, Team Spirit, Virtus.pro and Heroic. Besides that, the line-up includes the winners of DreamHack Open 44 – Extra Salt from North America and Imperial Esports from South America.
The company has issued invites for the qualifier to the following teams: BIG, FaZe Clan, FURIA Esports and G2 Esports will start directly from the playoffs stage, while ENCE, FunPlus Phoenix, mousesports and OG will compete in the Play-In stage with the open qualifier winners, among which are K23, Movistar Riders, Trident Clan and SKADE. The closed qualifier will be played on April 26th – 28th; its best three teams will qualify for the main event. The final participant of IEM Summer will be the winner of NC Global Playoff.
IEM Summer 2021 will be played online on June 3rd – 13th. Besides $250,000 of prize money, the teams will also compete for a handful of ESL Pro Tour points. The event is also part of the Intel Grand Slam series.
