<h1>Next HOTS Hero is Hogger from WoW</h1>
Blizzard have released a new update for Heroes of the Storm, which is currently available for testing on the PTR. The update introduces a new hero – Hogger.
Hogger is a melee bruiser who is great at dealing AoE damage. The hero is based on an elite mob in World of Warcraft, famous for being one of the first tough opponents human characters meet in Elwynn Forest.

<li>[D] Loot Hoard: Throw a pile of junk that deals 102 damage in a small area and acts as terrain for 5 seconds. Upon expiration, a scrap of Meat is dislodged from the Hoard that Hogger can collect to restore 3% of his maximum Health every second for 5 seconds. Cooldown: 20 seconds.</li>
<li>[Passive] Rage: Rage is gained by taking damage or dealing Basic Attack damage. Hogger’s Basic Ability cooldowns refresh 1% faster for every 2 points of Rage. After 3 seconds of not gaining Rage, it begins to quickly decay.</li>

Basic Abilities

<li>[Q] Staggering Blow : Swing your chain in a wide arc, dealing 140 damage to enemies hit and knocking them away. If an enemy collides with terrain, they are dealt an additional 150 damage, Stunned for .75 seconds, and grant Hogger 10 Rage. Cooldown: 12 seconds. </li>
<li>[W] Ez-Thro Dynamite: Toss a boot full of Dynamite with a 1.5 second fuse. Upon detonation, enemies take 180 damage and are Slowed by 30% for 2 seconds. The Dynamite instantly detonates when landing directly on an enemy Hero and grants Hogger 10 Rage. Cooldown: 8 seconds. </li>
<li>[E] Hogg Wild : After .25 seconds, become Unstoppable and uncontrollably spin towards the targeted direction, ricocheting off any terrain encountered. Every .25 seconds, deal 36 damage to nearby enemies, increased by 1% for each current point of Rage. Ricocheting off terrain refreshes the duration of the spin. Cooldown: 14 seconds. </li>

Heroic Abilities

<li>[R1] Hoardapult : Launch an empowered Loot Hoard with Hogger attached, dealing 140 damage and Slowing enemies by 50% for 2 seconds. Hoardapult’s Loot Hoard lasts for up to 20 seconds, but decays rapidly while Hogger isn’t nearby. Every 10 seconds Hogger can take a chunk of Meat from the Loot Hoard. Cooldown: 50 seconds.</li>
<li>[R2] Shockwave: After .5 seconds, slam the ground, sending out a shockwave that travels in a long line. Enemies hit by the initial slam take 306 damage and are Stunned for 1.25 seconds. Enemies only hit by the shockwave take 210 damage and are Stunned for .75 seconds. Cooldown: 70 seconds.</li>

Blizzard Entertainment have revealed that the next hero for their MOBA Heroes of the Storm is Mei from Overwatch. The character is already available on the test server.

Besides the new hero, the update also introduces a new anomaly called Climate Phenomena, which adds weather events to all game modes. There are three events:

Blizzard have released a new major update for the Test Server of Heroes of the Storm, which introduces a new unique hero Qhira, improves the ranked system, as well as changes the map Braxis Holdout.

<li>Carnage [Q]: Unleash your sword in a targeted direction, continuously dealing 31 damage to enemies caught in its path. Cost: 40 Mana. Cooldown: 6 seconds.</li>
<li>Blood Rage [W]: Passive: Basic Attack and Ability damage cause enemies to bleed for 46 damage over 4 seconds. Stacks 5 times. Active: Qhira deals 33 damage and heals for 88 health per enemy Hero affected. Damage and healing is increased by 50% per each additional stack on that Hero. Cost: 35 mana. Cooldown: 8 seconds.</li>
<li>Resolving Sweep [E]: Attach your sword to the first enemy Hero hit, Stunning them for .25 seconds. Once attached, Qhira becomes immune to all effects, swinging around the target for 2.75 seconds, and dealing 109 damage to any enemies between you and the target. Reactivate to send you to the target’s location, knocking them back, dealing 112 damage and Stunning them for .75 seconds. Cost: 70 mana. Cooldown: 16 seconds. </li>
<li>Unrelenting Strikes [R1]: Deal 46 damage to all nearby enemies every .5 seconds for 2.5 seconds as your sword grows outward. Upon expiring, deal 86 damage to all nearby enemy Heroes and Stun them for .75 seconds. Cost: 60 mana. Cooldown: 75 seconds. </li>
<li>Final Strike [R2]: After 1 second, strike your sword in a line to deal 432 damage to all enemies in its path. This damage is increased by 25% to any enemy below 50% Health. Cost: 45 mana. Cooldown: 40 seconds. </li>

<h4>Storm League Season 1 Changes:</h4>

<li>Ranked Points are now directly mapped to a player's Storm League MMR.</li>
<li>Placement Matches have been reduced from 10 to 3.</li>
<li>Promotion and Demotion games have been removed and players will seamlessly transition through Leagues and Divisions.</li>
<li>Added a Ranked Seasonal Questline, that can be completed to obtain seasonal rewards and get to leaderboards.</li>
<li>Rotation Update: Dragon Shire and Sky Temple replaced by Alterac Pass and Volskaya Foundry.</li>

<h1>HOTS Update: Ranked Changes, New Event and Hero Reworks</h1>
Blizzard have released a new major update for Heroes of the Storm, which introduces a new ranked league, a brand new event, hero reworks and more. The main changes are listed below.

<li>Ranked Changes: Hero League and Team League have been merged into a single ranked queue called Storm League. The initial seeding for the new league will be based on the last known Hero League or Team League MMR (whichever is greater). </li>
<li>Hero Roles Update: all heroes are now categorized in six new roles, among which are Tank, Bruiser, Support, Healer, Melee Assassin, and Ranged Assassin.</li>
<li>New Event called Caldeum Complex allows you to complete special quests and get unique rewards, including portraits, sprays, chests and a mount. While the event is active (March 26th – April 30th), all chests earned through progression will be Caldeum Complex Loot Chests and guarantee at least one item from the Caldeum Complex or previous years’ Lunar New Year Spring events. </li>
<li>Loot chests are no longer available for Gem purchase, instead they can be purchased with Gold. </li>

HOTS Update: New Warrior Hero Imperius

<h1>HOTS: Community Raises $10,000+ for Prize Pool of Recently Announced Amateur Event</h1>
Heroes Lounge, the largest Heroes of the Storm amateur league, has announced plans to launch a new high-level competition for the top players from North America and Europe. The event will begin early next year and will be called Heroes Lounge Division S, its prize pool will be raised via crowdfunding. The community already managed to fund $12,500 in less than three days.
The qualifiers for the main league will be played on February 2-3, with the signup starting already in January. The main league will begin in March and feature a round-robin format. There also will be a crucible stage, which means that some teams may drop out of the leagues and be replaced by new teams. The matches will be casted by the popular German caster Thomas "Khaldor" Kilian. The prize pool is raised by the community at <a href="https://matcherino.com/tournaments/13104">Matcherino</a>.
Earlier this month Blizzard <a href="/en/news/heroes-of-the-storm-loses-competitive-scene-and-part-of-development-team">announced</a> that they had decided to close both the professional league Heroes Global Championship and the collegiate event Heroes of the Dorm, as well as move some Heroes of the Storm developers to other projects.

<h1>Heroes of the Storm Loses Competitive Scene and Part of Development Team</h1>
The recently appointed Blizzard Entertainment president J. Allen Brack has released a statement about the future of the company’s MOBA-game Heroes of the Storm. According to the statement, the company decided to cancel both the professional league Heroes Global Championship and the collegiate tournament Heroes of the Dorm. Moreover, some Heroes of the Storm developers have been shifted to other Blizzard teams to work on other projects.
It has been emphasized that the game will continue to get updates, including new heroes, themed events, and other content, but the cadence will change. Quote: “Ultimately, we’re setting up the game for long-term sustainability”. Brett Crawford, the Lead Live Designer for HotS, explained the situation on Reddit: “We are still here, actively developing the game, and always listening to our community. […] Hopefully we can share more with everyone very soon, but we will be far from a skeleton crew”. 
Heroes of the Storm was officially launched 2nd July 2015. The first season Heroes of the Storm Global Championship started in 2016. Heroes of the Dorm has been held early since 2015. The last HGC Finals event took place on October 25 – November 3 during the latest Blizzcon. In the grand finals Gen.G <a href="/en/news/geng-emerged-victorious-at-2018-hgc-finals ">defeated</a> Dignitas, claiming $500,000 in prize money.

HOTS Update: New Hero Orphea is Live

<h1>Gen.G Emerged Victorious at 2018 HGC Finals</h1>
2018 Heroes of the Storm Global Championship Finals has completed with a victory of the South Korean team Gen.G over the European squad Dignitas with the 3-0 score. The champions received $500,000 in prize money.
Both finalists qualified for the playoffs from the first places in their groups – Gen.G placed first in Group A with the 4-1-0 map score, while Dignitas finished their run in Group B with the 5-0-0 score. In the playoffs Gen.G defeated TheOne (2:0) and Team Liquid (3:2), while Dignitas outplayed Tempo Storm (2:0) and Miracle (3:1). The final series concluded with the 3:0 score in favour of the South Korean squad. Earlier this year they placed first at 2018 HGC Mid-Season Brawl, 2018 HGC Phase #2 Eastern Clash and 2018 HGC Phase #2 South Korea Pro League.
2018 HGC Finals is the main Heroes of the Storm event of the year. It was held from October 25th – November 3rd during BlizzCon. It featured 12 teams competing for a $1,000,000 prize pool. First, the participants were seeded into two groups with round-robin format and best-of-two series. Then top four teams from each group advanced to a single-elimination playoffs bracket with best-of-three quarterfinals and best-of-five semifinals and grand finals.

<h1>Playoffs Seeds for 2018 HGC Finals</h1>
2018 Heroes of the Storm Global Championship Finals, which is being held as a part of this year’s Blizzcon, is nearing its end. The final stage of the main Heroes event of the year will begin on November 2nd, and we already know the pairs of teams that will battle it out in the opening matches of the playoffs stage. 
The playoffs stage will continue for two days and feature a single-elimination bracket, where quarterfinals will be best-of-three, while semifinals with the grand finals will be best-of-five. The organizers of the event have seeded the participants as follows:
