Blizzard Decided to Delay Overwatch 2
Blizzard Decided to Delay Overwatch 2
Activision Blizzard have released a third-quarter update for their investors, which states that the company decided to launch Overwatch 2 “later than originally envisaged”. The main reason for the delay is a change in the leadership within the team working on the game.
The game’s sequel was announced two years ago. The developers have never announced its release day, however earlier they confirmed that the game was not going to be released in 2021. Now Overwatch 2 is likely to launch in 2023. The original game has been receiving much less updates since the sequels announcement – the last hero added to the game was released in March 2020. While the company has never stopped working on new content, it is preserved for the sequel.
One of the most important changes of Overwatch 2 is the reduction in teams’ size from six to five, which is obviously incredibly significant for the professional scene. Overwatch League is expected to resume next April – Blizzard have confirmed that it will run on an “early build” of Overwatch 2.
