Astralis Part Ways with Dupreeh, Magisk and Zonic
Following a prolonged period of disappointing results and a series of rumours about possible roster changes, Astralis have finally made the announcement regarding their CS:GO roster. The team parted ways with one of its original members from 2016, Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen, as well as with their star player Emil "Magisk" Reif, who joined the team in 2018. Additionally, the organization dismissed Danny "zonic" Sørensen, who was the team’s coach since its inception.
The two new members of the team are Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke and Benjamin "blameF" Bremer, both of which spent the previous two year together in Complexity. K0nfig has been inactive for the last few months due to a wrist injury, however recently he completely recovered. The team’s new coach is Alexander "ave" Holdt, who earlier worked in the same role for Nortn between 2017 and 2019.
Earlier Astralis extended their contracts with Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander for three years and with Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth for four years. They are the only remaining members of the roster who have been playing for the team since 2016.
Once the strongest team in the world, Astralis have been underperforming for the last two years. Most recently they barely made it through the New Challengers stage of PGL Major Stockholm 2021 with a 3-2 score, and later failed to advance through the New Legends stage with a 1-3 score, finishing 12th – 14th at the major.
