Acend Defeat Gambit in the Grand Finals of VALORANT Champions 2021
The first ever VALORANT world championship – VALORANT Champions 2021 – has concluded with a victory of the European team Acend. In the tournament’s grand finale they managed to defeat the Russian squad Gambit Esports with a 3-2 score.
Playoffs Bracket:
Acend qualified for VALORANT Champions 2021 thanks to their second place in the EMEA VCT Circuit Standings. They started competing in the event in Group A, where they placed first after defeating Keyd Stars (2-0) and Team Envy (2-0). On their way through the playoffs, the team outplayed Team Secret (2-0) and Team Liquid (2-0). In the grand finals Acend lost to Gambit at Breeze (11:13) and Fracture (3:13), but managed to win at Ascent (13:7), Icebox (14:12) and Split (13:8).
VALORANT Champions 2021 was held from December 1st to 12th in Berlin, Germany, with the final matches being played at Verti Music Hall. While the initial prize pool of the event was set at $1,000,000, it has been increased by more than $7,500,000 thanks to the in-game sales of Champions Collection.
