A New Event Starts in Dota 2 alongside a Launch of the New Battle Pass
VALVE have updated Dota 2, launching a new in-game event – Nemestice – and releasing a new Battle Pass. The event is free, while the basic Battle Pass costs $7.49 with an option to buy bundles for 50 levels ($26.99) and 100 levels ($41.99).
The goal of the new in-game mode is to destroy three enemy towers – once one is destroyed, the other become stronger. Every three minutes a giant meteorite strike will happen in the center of the map. Players will have to avoid falling meteors and try to gather the meteorite fragments to increase their power.
The new Battle Pass follows the usual format with weekly quests and catacombs. For buying the basic bundle, you will instantly get two treasures, a courier, a ward, and a music bundle. The most prominent rewards are the Davion of Dragon Hold persona for Dragon Knight (195 level) and the Phantom Agent arcana for Spectre (330 level). The new Battle Pass does not contribute towards The International or Dota Pro Circuit participants. However, a VALVE employee Wykrhm Reddy revealed that this is only the first pass of the year.
The new update also brings support for the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution technology. While enabled, the game renders at a lower resolution and then upscales the result with a better image quality. This should improve performance on less powerful cards – the technology works with all GPUs compatible with DirectX 11 or Vulkan. To enable FSR you need to set Game Screen Render Quality to less than 100% and turn on the FidelityFX Super Resolution checkbox.
Earlier VALVE revealed that The International 10 might be relocated and rescheduled. Currently the Swedish government is unable to accommodate the event and the company is looking for alternative variants, with the goal to organize the event somewhere in Europe this year.
